Today, Meghan Markle celebrates her birthday! The Duchess of Sussex turns 39, and she'll no doubt be celebrating with husband Prince Harry and their young son Archie in their new home in LA. Due to time difference, Meghan likely won't even be awake yet, but back over in the UK her brother-and-sister-in-law Prince William and Kate Middleton have already marked the occasion bright and early.

On both Twitter and Instagram this morning, William and Kate posted a tribute to Meghan on her special day. Alongside a sweet photograph of Meghan smiling with a child and a cupcake at one of her previous royal events, the Cambridges wrote: "Wishing a very happy birthday to The Duchess of Sussex today!" alongside their favourite balloon emoji they always use for such occasions.

The last time the two couples were seen in public together was back in March, at Meghan and Harry's last ever official event as working royals. Since then, the Sussexes relocated to America and lockdown for coronavirus happened, so the two families won't have seen each other in months. Regardless - and with a backdrop of rumours swirling about the couples' apparently tumultuous relationship in recent years - it's nice to see Meghan's birthday is still very much marked on William and Kate's calendar.

The Cambridges weren't the only royals to make a gesture for the Duchess of Sussex's birthday; the official royal family account also joined in with a celebratory post of their own.

Posting a photograph from an official engagement Meghan carried out with Queen Elizabeth - in Chester in 2018 - they wrote a similar message. "Wishing The Duchess of Sussex a very happy birthday!" the Instagram and Twitter posts read.

With the pandemic still on the up in the United States, there'll be limited ways Meghan can celebrate, although reports from the Daily Mail suggest she was hoping to go away on a staycaytion for her birthday. Montecito, a town elsewhere in California, was tipped as the location the Duchess of Sussex was planning to spend her birthday with a few very close friends - all of whom would reportedly get tested for coronavirus beforehand.

"Whatever she ends up doing for her birthday, Meghan said it will be low-key," a source told The Daily Mail. "She said she doesn’t want to come across as being careless and irresponsible."

Whatever you're doing for your birthday, Meghan, we hope it's a good one!
