Mounties are appealing to the public for help with new details in the hopes of solving the mystery of Sheree Fertuck’s disappearance.

She was last seen leaving her family’s farmyard east of Kenaston, Sask., in December 2015.

Investigators made the determination that she was the victim of a homicide in April 2016.

Saskatchewan RCMP identified areas on July 18 that they’re asking the public to help search.

“We have searched some of the areas in the almost 400-kilometre square grid that we’ve released … But, of course, no matter how many people we put out there, we don’t have the intimate knowledge of the land that a landowner would have or someone that farms the land,” RCMP spokesperson Rob King said.

“Our ultimate goal is to find Sheree and bring her home for her family … but it also helps bring closure to her family and that’s the ultimate goal.”

The search parameters are as follows:

  • north of a gravel pit that is directly south and adjacent to Highway 15;
  • south of the Highway 764 grid extension; and
  • east of the Highway 764 grid extension.

Homicide investigators also highlighted a dark-coloured, tarp-like or polyethylene material. If pieces are found in these areas, police said this information may help find the woman.

“The tarp material is just one material, also included in our list of things, that we’d like for people to keep an eye out for or to notify us if they’ve seen them in the past … almost four years ago,” King said.

“As a result of information that’s been learned during the course of the investigation, we believe the tarp may be one of the many significant things that we want to know about and hopefully locate.”

Fertuck was last seen wearing glasses, grey sweat pants, a grey sweater and white running shoes.

“What we’re asking today is for people that live in a certain area in proximity to the gravel pit, where Sheree Fertuck went missing, to start searching or to maybe at least let us know if certain items that we’re wondering about that we want to locate have been located in the last few years,” King said.

“We’re asking for those people that own the land or are very familiar with the land (to) go out and take a look around or if they have seen any of these items in the past three, four years to let us know where they were located.”

The major crime and historical case units arrested her husband, Greg Fertuck, last month in relation to the alleged homicide. He has been charged with first-degree murder and offering an indignity to human remains.

Anyone with information is asked to contact their local police detachment or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Kenaston is approximately 75 kilometres south of Saskatoon.
