Music Midtown Makes Decision For 2020 Festival

The organizers of Music Midtown 2020 have made a decision on whether the festival will be postponed this year.

MIDTOWN, GA β€” One of the Southeast's largest music events held in Atlanta has just announced it will not happen this year.

The organizers of what would have been the 26th annual Music Midtown posted a statement online Tuesday saying this year's festival has been rescheduled to Sept. 18-19, 2021. Tickets will automatically be valid for the new date. The event will once again be held at Piedmont Park, its venue since 2011.

So far, the festival's website lists My Chemical Romance as the sole performer for next year's line up. Music Midtown 2019 was headlined by Travis Scott, Panic! At the Disco, Billie Eilish and Vampire Weekend. Other performers include Lizzo, Charlie Puth, Lord Huron, Tash Sultana, Kali Uchis, Walk The Moon, Quinn XCII, Lil Yachty, 6lack, the Coathangers, Faye Webster, Banks, Local Natives, MØ, Jaden Smith, Sigrid, Dominic Fike, Taylor Bennett, Madison Beer, Bad Suns, Noah Cyrus, Reignwolf, Band of Skulls, YOLA, Kevin Garrett and 99 Neighbors.

"Thank you for your patience as we continue to navigate through these unprecedented times together," the statement reads. "We hope that you will hang on to your tickets and join us in Atlanta next fall.

"We understand that as a community some of us are facing challenging times; we hear you, we care about you, and know that our hearts are with you. If you are unable to attend the rescheduled dates, we are now offering the opportunity to request a full refund."

‍Refunds may be requested beginning Tuesday by following the instructions below. Requests must be received by July 16. Refunds will be processed by 30 days following the deadline. Your refund will be issued to your original method of payment.

To request a refund on all tickets purchased via Front Gate tickets, visit online.

HOW TO REQUEST A REFUND:

  1. Visit https://musicmidtown.frontgatetickets.com/ and log into your Front Gate Tickets account
  2. Select the "Your Account" button and then "Order History" at the top navigation bar. This will take you to your ticket purchase.
  3. Select "View Order Detail" on the order number you wish to have refunded.
  4. Click the "REQUEST REFUND" button at the top of your order details. It will automatically initiate the process to refund that ticket order.

Music Midtown began in 1994 and ran until 2005, and returned six years later in 2011 after a decline in attendance and expenses. It returned as a one-day event, and expanded in 2012 to its current, two-day format.
