Kansas State’s Jerome Tang Laments Fans’ Vulgar Chant at Rival Jayhawks

Jerome Tang was not a fan of a vulgar chant started by Kansas State fans before and during the Wildcats' 75—70 upset win over their rival, the Kansas Jayhawks, at Bramlage Coliseum on Monday night.

Wildcats fans could be heard loudly chanting "F*** KU" at various points during the game, something that Tang, who has made his opinion on the matter clear in the past, was asked about during a postgame press conference.

The Kansas State coach told reporters he was "not very happy" when he first heard it, per Glenn Kinley of KSNT 27 News on X, formerly Twitter.

"I heard it when I was walking out and I was not very happy. We will get there where that is no longer a thing because we will care more about KSU than anyone else," Tang said.

It's not the first time that Tang, a true leader, has taken exception to the vulgar chant, which he stopped fans from doing by grabbing the microphone and making a speech after an upset victory over the Jayhawks in January of 2023.

Tang believes people are better than that, a message he conveyed in a post onto his X account.

The victory over Kansas stopped a four-game skid and improved the Wildcats' record to 15—8.
