Gavan O’Herlihy, who began his career as member of ‘Happy Day’ cast, dies at age 70

Actor Gavan O’Herlihy, known for his roles in “Willow” and “Happy Days,” has died at the age of 70, according to several reports.

A rep confirmed the news to Metro.co.uk.

O’Herlihy’s on-screen career began in 1973, with the actor being cast as Chuck Cunningham in “Happy Days” 1974, according to Metro.co.uk.

The story noted that he was later replaced by Randolph Roberts but fans never forgot him in that role.

O’Herlihy, starred in various TV shows throughout the 70s, and was well known for appearing in a variety of roles as a villain.

In 1983, he played Brad in Superman III, which starred Christopher Reeve, and a few years later he took on the role of Airk Thaughbaer in “Willow,” the story said.

He also appeared in Twin Peaks, the story noted. Gavan was the son of actor Dan O’Herlihy.
