Attempted Murder Suspect Captured In Concord's South End

U.S. Marshals, Concord police, troopers captured Michael Ames Monday in the South End. He was wanted for attempted murder, armed robbery.

CONCORD, NH — U.S. Marshals and Concord police descended on Thorndike Street in the South End Monday to capture an attempted murder suspect. Concord police and marshals surrounded a home near the old Rumford Elementary School at around 9:15 p.m. Teams were set up on both sides of the street before they attempted to capture the suspect.

As the teams raided the house, the suspect, Michael Ames, attempted to flee from police and there was a short pursuit. He was quickly taken down by the team, according to scanner chatter.

Concord Fire and Rescue teams were called to the scene to offer medical treatment and Ames was later taken to Concord Hospital while being accompanied by officers. A deputy marshal was also treated at the scene and taken to the hospital.

Two other people were arrested on warrants including Christopher Becker and Karen Tefft, according to dispatch and radio traffic. Ames was arrested on the outstanding attempted murder warrant as well as a new charge, felon in possession.

New Hampshire State Police showed up on Thorndike Street later to assist marshals and police.

While Ames was taken to the hospital, police received a call from a man on the Concord Heights claiming that his vehicle stolen. The man stated that Ames was with him when he fell asleep. When he woke up, Ames and his car were gone. That vehicle was parked on Thorndike Street, according to police at the scene.

The caller told dispatch he didn't know exactly where he was but later stated he was on Eastern Avenue. Officers went to speak with him about the case.
