CVS To Open Drive-Thru Coronavirus Testing At 39 Virginia Stores
A self-swab test is available at select drive-thru locations starting on Friday, May 29.
VIRGINIA — CVS Pharmacy will open drive-thru testing at 39 Virginia locations on Friday, May 29. Testing will be available by appointment to individuals 18 and up who meet Centers for Disease Control and Prevention criteria.
CVS is offering the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, which checks for a current infection. The test is a self-swab conducted at the drive-thru window, according to a news release. Patients will provided with a test kit and given instructions while a CVS Pharmacy employee checks for correct use. Test results come back in about three days.
Insurance is accepted but not required for testing. Testing is generally available at no cost to patients through their insurance plans. Those without insurance should bring a Social Security number, driver's license or state ID. Proof of identity, birth date, and appointment confirmation are required for all patients at the appointment.
