Today, a ceremonial groundbreaking is set for St. Paul's Newman Center in North Fargo.

It's the kickoff to a $21.5 million construction project for the Center. It'll include a new 450 seat chapel, a ballroom for social events, a library, and a coffee shop. It will also have an 88-bed faith-based housing complex for students and priests. The Center primarily serves students on the NDSU campus across the street. This project has been under constant scrutiny by the Roosevelt Neighborhood Association. Neighbors have demanded change to the project. They fear it will further eliminate the single family home atmosphere of the historic neighborhood and lower property values. Roers Construction expects to have the Newman Center project finished by July of 2021.
