81-Year-Old Murder Victim In Suwanee Identified; Son Charged

Otto Kim, 45, has been charged with his mother's murder following a dispute between the two, according to the Gwinnett County Police Dept.

SUWANEE, GA—An elderly woman killed over the weekend during a domestic dispute with her grown son has been identified, according to the Gwinnett County Police Department. Police say the victim is Myung Kim, 81, of Suwanee.

Police say her son, 45-year-old Otto Kim, has been charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated battery and aggravated assault. He is currently incarcerated at the Gwinnett County jail.

On Sunday around 8:17 p.m., officers responded to a report of a man running into oncoming traffic on Buford Highway near Suwanee Creek Road in unincorporated Suwanee.

Police say Kim appears to have intentionally run into vehicles that were traveling on the roadway.

When officers arrived on scene, police say Kim told them that he had just killed his mother. Otto said he lived on Chelsea Falls Lane.

After arriving to the location of the incident, officers say they found an 81-year old woman with injuries to her face. She was transported to a local hospital where she later died.

The GCPD Homicide Unit, the Gwinnett District Attorney’s Office and the Crime Scene Investigation Unit was called to the scene.

Investigators say the suspect and the victim lived together inside the home.
