Empty Bowls event raises $10k for Open Table

Newbury Court fundraiser supports local food pantry with an event that brought different members of the community together.

This year's Empty Bowls fundraiser brought in more than $10k for Open Table, the local food pantry and community dinner. Hosted for the first time by Newbury Court, the event took place on Sunday, November 4th, with 300 bowls made by residents and locally sourced delicious soup.

Most bowls sold within the first hour of the event. Money raised goes to support the food pantry, which feeds nearly 600 families each year.

Pantry volunteer Kim Kelly and Pantry Diector Rose Saia were top bidders at the silent auction portion of the fundraiser. Kim coveted the bunny-roo (a hare that Aussie Kim dubbed a kangaroo) and Rose took home this gentle elephant. A wonderful event full of smiles, soup and sunshine!
