Bus driver pulls over and chases off mugger after spotting him trying to snatch elderly woman’s bag on the street

This is the moment a brave bus driver went to the rescue of an elderly woman when a mugger tried to snatch her bag. 

Ex-soldier Károly Zsolt Kis was driving by Újgyőr market in Miskolc, Hungary, when he spotted the woman with a walking stick trying to fend off the attacker. 

Footage recorded by the bus surveillance cameras shows the driver, who served in Iraq, stopping the bus and leaping out of his cab.

Károly then runs over and pushes the man off the victim.  

The bus driver stands between the mugger and the victim until he runs away. 

He looks through the trees on the side of the road to check the mugger is gone before ushering the pensioner towards his bus.

The elderly woman then boards his bus and it continues on its route. 

Police have arrested a 27-year-old man following the incident which happened shortly before 9.30am on June 5. 

The victim was not injured but she was shaken up by the incident, according to local reports.
