Peel Regional Police say a man who was riding a bike has died after being hit by a vehicle in Brampton on Tuesday morning.

Emergency crews were called to Rutherford and Orenda roads at 7:23 a.m.

Peel Paramedics said a male patient was transported in life-threatening condition to a local hospital where he later died.

Police initially said that the driver involved in the collision did not remain at the scene. In an update, police said the investigation is no longer a fail-to-remain incident.

“Originally, we had reported that we believed it to be a fail-to-remain. Since that time, the investigation has revealed that in fact the Major Collision Bureau is not investigating this as a fail-to-remain investigation,” Const. Heather Cannon told reporters at the scene.
