Wildfire spreads in Kelseyville by old Adobe Dam, residents asked to evacuate

UPDATE: By 6:30 Saturday, CalFire reported the fire at 60 acres, 20 percent contained with a stoppage in forward spread.

KELSEYVILLE>> Mandatory evacuations were called for Saturday for Adobe Creek Road and Peterson Lane in Kelseyville as fire fighters battled a vegetation fire which officials said was moving at a “moderate to fast rate of spread” and had potential to grow.

According to CalFire, the start of the incident, dubbed “The Carder” fire was reported to be 2:40 p.m. and 40 acres had burned approximately an hour later.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Department alerted all residents on Adobe Creek Road and Wigt Way to evacuate the area immediately.

Scanner traffic indicated additional aircraft being diverted to the scene in addition to four water tenders, four hand crews which had already been dispatched, while residents reported the location is by the old Adobe Dam.

The LCSD also reported a shelter was established at the 7th Day Adventist Church in Lakeport. The address is 111 Park Way at the intersection of Park Way and Hill Road East.
