It's a long-running joke (that isn't remotely funny, FYI) that men and people with penises hate wearing condoms. The reasons you'll hear can range from "they don't feel as good" to "I can't come when I'm wearing one". Which BTW is absolute BS because there are so many awesome new condoms that are super-thin and barely impact on the sensation at all.

All in all, these are some pretty harmful attitudes especially when it comes to sexual health and safe sex, which should always be prioritised over someone's penile feelings.

New York Times published a report though that reveals there may be another reason some penis-havers aren't giant condom fans - and it all comes down to size.

So apparently, it turns out the average penis is a fair few centimetres shorter than the standard condom length of 17cm. And this is causing some people with penises issues when using condoms.

Debby Herbenick, a sexual health expert at Indiana University, studied 1,661 people in the US and found 83% said their penises were shorter than most condoms. An average penis length was worked out as 5.57inches which is just over 14cm - a full 2cm shorter than standard condoms.

The New York Times reports some studies have found men and penis-owners often said condoms tended to "slip off". Ron Frezieres, vice president for research and evaluation at Essential Access Health, added “shorter men had a big roll of latex at the base of the penis.”

We've got good news then for those people then, because there are now custom condoms to fit all lovely penis lengths and sizes. ONE Condoms has launched their new range of condoms and there'll be FIFTY SIX different fits to choose from.

It's so sad and worrying that condoms have such a bad rep - they save lives FFS. But hopefully the introduction of these new custom condoms will mean more men and penis-havers are up for using them.

And to the ones that already do use them religiously, keep it up.
