Rough morning commute as 4 crashes tie up traffic

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- A crash was reported on the Brooklyn-bound upper level of Verrazano-Narrows Bridge early Friday morning.

The center lane was blocked as a result, according to the MTA.

A separate crash was reported on the Brooklyn-bound side of the Staten Island Expressway near Hylan Boulevard.

In addition, crashes on the Gowanus and Brooklyn-Queens expressways caused backups on the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge.

An overturned truck was reported at the Hamilton Avenue exit, according to the MTA.

The eastbound left lane was blocked around Hamilton Avenue, and traffic was backed up to 92nd Street with a delay of 54 minutes, according to Total Traffic NYC.
