PORTSMOUTH, RI — Portsmouth's Stitchery holding a craft swap event at the end of the month in honor of its third anniversary. Members of the community are invited to bring their unwanted craft supplies ahead of the swap on Feb. 29, when they can stock up on scrapbooking paper, yarn, fabric and more.

"This event was so successful last year that we are excited to host again this year. Bring us yarn, scrapbooking paper, fabric, thread, knitting needles—anything that’s unbroken that is just collecting dust in your basement," said Traci Vaspol, a co-owner and instructor.

On the day of the event, everyone is welcome to attend from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and help themselves to the collected craft supplies, free of charge. A donation jar will be set up to benefit the Portsmouth Library.

"Give us any usable craft supplies that you no longer need, and we will open our doors to the community on the 29th," said Karen Katin, Stitchery's other co-owner and instructor. "Take anything you like for free! If you don’t feel right taking items for free, we will also have a donation jar whose proceeds will go directly to the Portsmouth Library."

Supplies will be accepted at the studio at 14 Potomac Road now through Feb. 28, the day before the event. Items can be dropped off whenever the studio is open for classes. A full schedule is available on Stitchery's website.

"Admit that you’re never going to get around to making the curtain from fabric you bought 15 years ago," Katin added. "Maybe someone else attending the swap will be inspired to sew the perfect pillow with it."
