Alabama Adds 886 New Coronavirus Cases, 2nd Day Under 1,000

MONTGOMERY, AL — For the second day in a row, Alabama posted fewer than 1,000 new COVID-19 cases statewide, and the lowest number of new cases since June. The 886 new cases reported by the state brought the state total to more than 91,000 since the pandemic began.

In the last two weeks, the state has confirmed 20,155 cases of the virus, the lowest 2-week total since mid-June.

Alabama has confirmed 1,639 deaths from COVID-19, after adding 26 new deaths to the total in the last 24 hours. Alabama has reported 138 deaths from COVID-19 in the last week

New COVID-19 cases and deaths reported each day the last week:

• July 30: 1,923 new cases; 27 deaths
• July 31: 1,783 new cases; 15 deaths
• August 1: 1,502 new cases; 22 deaths
• August 2: 2,031 new cases; 23 deaths
• August 3: 1,116 new cases; 4 deaths
• August 4: 963 new cases; 31 deaths
• August 5: 886 new cases; 26 deaths
