Watch: Lions’ Bo Scarbrough earns start in pro debut, scores TD on third carry

DETROIT -- First there was Billy, and then there was Barry.

Now, we have Bo.

As in, Bo Scarbrough. He was a heck of a running back at Alabama, but has struggled to find his place in the NFL. He was drafted in the sixth round last year, but has gone on to sign with four teams without ever appearing in a game. Then he joined the Lions’ practice squad, earned the call up to the 53-man roster on Saturday -- then started Sunday’s game against Dallas, and needed just three carries before plowing into the end zone for a 5-yard touchdown.

And it came against the Cowboys, the team that drafted him last year.

It’s been quite the rise for the hard-running back, and gives Detroit some badly needed depth in its struggling backfield.
