Megan Rapinoe got to celebrate Sunday’s World Cup win with her biggest fan by her side.
After the US women’s national soccer team defeated the Netherlands, 2-0, scoring another World Cup title, Rapinoe kicked off the post-game celebrations with a kiss from girlfriend Sue Bird, who got to watch the match from the stands while recovering from knee surgery.
Rapinoe, 34, who connected with WNBA player Bird during the 2016 Rio Olympics, later posted a special message to her lady love on Instagram.
“I’m so in love with you. Thank you baby @sbird10,” Rapinoe captioned the snap.
Bird, 38, later penned a special message of her own, gushing how “proud” she is of Rapinoe.
“We have a lot in common and just sort of clicked,” Rapinoe said of Bird in a 2017 interview. “I joke she is my No. 1 go-to-for-advice person. She’s just so level-headed.”
