Apple would much prefer you access Apple Music on an iOS device rather than Android, but for those who prefer Google's mobile operating system, Apple Music for Android is getting a welcome new feature: Chromecast support.

As Android Police reports, the latest beta of Apple Music on the Play Store (v3.0.0-beta) adds the ability to connect to any available Chromecast device automatically detected on the same network. It means Google's Chromecast dongles, Google Home, Nest Hub, and any other Chromecast compatible devices, be those smart displays, speakers, etc. can blast out Apple Music tunes.

When running this new version of the app a cast icon will appear if Chromecast devices are available. Tapping the icon allows you to select which one to wirelessly stream the audio to while retaining control over playback on your device.

The beta also contains two other recently added new features. The first is a dark mode suitable for low-light environments, so perfect for night time music listening with the lights down low. The second is the addition of over 100,000 radio stations, which certainly opens up Apple's service to a much wider Android-using audience. The new stations are offered via TuneIn, Radio.com, and iHeartRadio and can easily be searched for by name or frequency.

Apple Music is free to try on iOS and Android and offers access to over 50 million songs alongside your existing iTunes library. After the trial is over it costs $9.99/month for an individual, $14.99/month for a family plan, or $4.99/month if you qualify as a student. In our Apple Music review, PCMag appreciated the exclusive albums and Siri and Apple Watch ($191.99 at Best Buy) compatibility, but you can't access your library from a web browser and it falls short of toppling Spotify. Even so, it's an excellent choice for music streaming.
