Love Island’s Maura Higgins had a bit of a time of it during her stint in the villa this summer. She came in with her eyes set on Tommy, but it wasn’t to be. Then there was Tom and that whole foot-in-mouth incident…

And now Maura – who eventually found happiness with Curtis Pritchard – has revealed that she actually stormed out of the villa at one point because it had all got too much for her.

Speaking on her new podcast Get The Scoop, Maura said: "I cried so many times. You have a lot of good moments, but then you have a lot of bad moments in there too because things get very heightened.”

When asked what her proudest moment in the villa was, Maura said: “I'm so proud of the fact I didn't give up because I was going to give up. I actually stormed out of the villa and said, 'I want to go home, I can't do it anymore, I can't find a man'.

“But I'm so proud that I got the strength to stay and carry on... and now look, I've got a man!”

Maura also recently revealed on This Morning that she got herself and the rest of the Islanders into trouble.

“Some nights you get one glass of wine, some nights you get two, you either get a choice of beer or wine, I always choose wine.”

“One night I went into the larder where the drinks get prepared and there's like a water dispenser there. I went in before everyone else and I downed everyone's wine and I filled it up with water.

“And I got in really big trouble. The whole island got punished the following night because I got really drunk. I shouldn't have probably said that. I'll get in big trouble now!”
