Patriots rookie running back Rhamondre Stevenson made his training camp debut Friday.

Stevenson missed the team’s first two practices on the Non-Football Injury list. He was seen watching a few periods up close during Thursday’s session, after spending most of Wednesday on the team’s lower conditioning field with the other sidelined players. Stevenson became the largest Patriots running back drafted in the Bill Belichick era last April when his name was called in the fourth round.

He is not projected to have a large offensive role this season, but could contribute as a goal-line back or possibly on third downs. Stevenson was hailed for his soft hands and one-cut running style during his college days at Oklahoma.

He now joins Damien Harris, Sony Michel, James White, Brandon Bolden, J.J. Taylor and Tyler Gaffney in the team’s running backs room. The Patriots practiced in helmets and shoulders pads Friday, the team’s first practice with any type of pads this year.
