SI World Golf Rankings: Jon Rahm is No. 1 on Our Debut Top 100 List

Jon Rahm is a man on fire and our debut rankings reflect it. Look closer and you'll see that our SI World Golf Rankings have many differences from the current OWGR.

Welcome to the new SI Golf World Ranking, presented by LA Golf. We're thrilled today to roll out our first list of top 100 men's golfers in the world. We'll continue to update this list every Monday going forward, and we'll be refining things as we go—soon you’ll see a longer list with slick, sortable functionality, more computations and an all-new women's list. So stay tuned, as we're just getting started.

As you view our top 100, you may wonder, "How is this different from the current Official World Golf Ranking?" We answer your questions and explain our calculations, but some highlights:

- All men's tours receive points for SIWGR, including LIV

- At all no-cut events, including LIV, top 75% of finishers will receive points

- We use most recent 12 months of results, instead of 24 months like the OWGR—we give 100% of eligible points for most recent 4 months of results, 70% of eligible points for events 5-8 months old and 40% for events 9-12 months old

- We factor in strength of field and award bonuses for the majors similar to OWGR

- Because Strokes Gained is not calculated by all world tours, we're using a new metric called "Distance Per Shot" (DPS), which will appear a separate list, just as OWGR does with Strokes Gained. DPS becomes a bigger factor when ranking players outside our top 100, as our strength of field calculation (SOF) covers the majority of tournaments those top 100 golfers enter.

With that, here's our list, led by the hottest player in golf, Jon Rahm. We welcome your questions and feedback here on Twitter.
