GOP voters want Ivanka, Don Jr. to run for president in 2024: poll

Two of President Trump’s children, Ivanka Trump and Donald Trump Jr., are among the top four Republicans being considered by GOP voters as the party’s nominee in the 2024 presidential election, according to a new poll.

The poll, released Saturday by Axios and SurveyMonkey, found that 29 percent of voters would consider voting for Don Jr., while 16 percent would consider supporting Ivanka.

The two Trumps were not the only ones to appeal to Republican voters, though. Vice President Mike Pence, whom Trump would not say if he would endorse in 2024 just yet, led the poll with 40 percent support.

Former US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley, whose name has swirled around as a 2024 contender, came in third with 26 percent.

Rounding out the poll were names like Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, who faced Trump in the 2016 Republican primary, and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who recently ruled out a run for the Senate to represent his home state of Kansas.

While Axios says an early poll such as this one mostly serves as a way to measure name recognition for potential candidates, the findings highlight the strength of Trump’s brand with the Republican Party.

Don’t expect Donald Trump Jr. to jump into any race just yet, though.

Asked during an appearance on “CBS This Morning” in November if he had any interest in running for political office, the president’s namesake said, “I’m interested in winning 2020 for my father right now. We’ll worry about everything else later.”

“Listen, I don’t ever rule anything out. The reality is this. Right now, I like the campaigning part. I actually enjoy some of that fight. I like getting out there and being with real people and seeing the difference that my father and his policies are making in their lives,” Trump Jr. added.

“I don’t know right now at this stage of my life that I would like the day job component of it.”
