Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy praised former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley on Super Tuesday, saying he’d like to see her have a role in a future Republican administration if she abandons her presidential bid.

McCarthy addressed the chances that Haley would drop out of the race against former President Trump while discussing the likely outcomes of Tuesday’s races on Fox News. Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia and American Samoa all held presidential contests on Tuesday.

“Probably her campaign is probably going to come to a close,” McCarthy told Fox News hosts Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum. “But it’s not the close for Nikki Haley. She did a tremendous campaign.”

The former California lawmaker hailed the success of Haley’s run, which seemed like a long-shot bid when she first entered the GOP race. She has steadily gained support in recent months, leaving her the last major challenger standing against Trump on Super Tuesday.

Haley has become a dominant figure in the Republican Party, McCarthy noted, one that could help unite it amid rising tensions.

“I think she has a very bright future. And I would hope she’d be a part of a future administration,” McCarthy added, citing her past roles as UN ambassador and South Carolina governor.

Haley continuously vowed to stay in the presidential race through at least through Super Tuesday, despite speculation that she would end her bid after suffering deep losses to Trump, including a crushing blow in her home state of South Carolina.

Haley managed to defeat Trump in Vermont on Tuesday — her biggest victory since the start of the GOP primary season and one that could add fuel to her campaign.
