ALEXANDRIA, VA — A restaurant is slated to open in the former home of Catch on the Ave in Del Ray.

The concept at 2419 Mount Vernon Avenue is named Piece Out LLC, according to an application submitted to the City of Alexandria. The restaurant will come from Lawrence and Christine Ponzi, owners of St. Elmo's Coffee Pub, Market to Market and Cafe Pizzaiolo. Alexandria Living Magazine reported the owners' goal of opening the Italian restaurant in the summer.

The request sent to the city calls for a change in ownership. No changes to the restaurant use, including seating or parking, are proposed.

The location has seen turnover since the closure of Caboose Cafe in 2017. The last occupant was Catch on the Ave, a seafood-focused restaurant that closed in late 2019 after nearly a year in operation. SnackBar opened in the space 2017 and closed in September 2018. Caboose Cafe, an Ethopian restaurant from Rhoda Worku had been a staple in Del Ray from 2004 to 2017.
