Longtime county commissioner, legislator Alon Wieland dies at 86

West Fargo man had more than 30 years of public service

WEST FARGO — Former Cass County Commissioner and state legislator Alon Wieland has passed away at age 86.

The West Fargo man died Saturday, Jan. 22, at Sheyenne Crossings.

He served as a county commissioner from 1983 to 2003 and was a North Dakota House of Representatives Republican legislator from 2002 to 2014, representing District 13 in West Fargo.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., with at prayer service at 7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 28, at Faith Journey Lutheran Church in West Fargo. A funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at the church.

Arrangements are by West Funeral Home & Life Tribute Center in West Fargo.
