FALLS CHURCH, VA — Thompson Italian is open as of Wednesday, Aug. 14 in Falls Church, the owners announced. It is located at 124 North Washington Street, the old location of Argia's.

Thompson Italian comes from chef Gabe Thompson and pastry chef Katherine Thompson, who previously worked for Italian restaurants in New York City. They moved to Northern Virginia in 2015, and Gabe Thompson became chef at RPM Italian in DC. The Thompsons partnered with Kristen Carson Hamilton, a Falls Church resident who has worked at Rose’s Luxury & Little Pearl, to open Thompson Italian.

Thompson Italian emphasizes fresh pasta, hand-spun gelato and other Italian delicacies. The menu is centered around pasta dishes like ricotta gnocchi, orecchiette and sweet corn ravioli. Pair it with starters like housemade ricotta or grilled octopus and desserts like olive oil cake or the classic cannoli.
