Two people were killed and one person hurt in separate crashes on Staten Island and in Queens, cops said.
The latest incident took place at 11:50 p.m. Friday on Staten Island, where a man driving a 2003 Ford Taurus hit a utility poll in front of 3687 Richmond Ave near Bartlett Avenue in the Eltingville section. Motorist Robert Altieri, 24, was killed, and his passenger, also 24, was hurt.
Altieri was speeding while traveling northbound on Richmond and “failed to properly navigate the roadway,” when the car hit the pole, the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined.
Shortly before 10 p.m. Friday in Queens, a 26-year-old man driving a 2013 silver Infiniti G37X was killed when he struck a tree on the westbound Jackie Robinson Parkway, between Forest Park Avenue and Metropolitan Avenue, police said.
EMS took the driver, whose name was not released, to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, cops said. No one else was injured.
Investigations into both incidents remain ongoing, according to police.
