I hope everyone is enjoying these balmy temps for our Minnesota January!

It is the perfect time to get outdoors and take advantage of what our beautiful winters can provide. Not sure what to do? Come to Carlton Feb. 8 for our annual Winterfest Celebration!

The event is brought to you by many different nonprofit organizations in our little town, including Carlton Community Education, Carlton Area Chamber of Commerce, Carlton Area Lions Club, Four Seasons Sports Complex and the Carlton Fire Department, plus many others that are involved with putting FUN into this event!

Most of the events take place at the Carlton Four Seasons Sports Complex. There is open hockey and open skating; the Lake Superior Zoomobile will be there with some fun creatures; the popular Lion’s Chili Cook-Off (anyone can enter and it is free); and many other indoor activities for children.

Dress warm and venture outside to take part in the Annual Mini Hook and Slice event — think mini-golf, but in the snow. Local businesses and organizations sponsor holes and provide fun challenges to participants — you do not want to miss it!

Close out the day by attending Carlton Fire Department Bingo or heading to Jay Cooke State Park for their candlelight ski and snowshoe. Both events are favorites with hundreds of people who attend each!

Enrichment offerings

Adult enrichment classes are keeping participants happy, healthy, creative and caffeinated!

There continue to be several unique art offerings through the Lumberjack and the Gypsy. Both of our yoga classes, Beginner and Restorative, are underway (new sessions will begin in March).

There is the opportunity to create and sample delicious concoctions made in an Instant Pot … perhaps a date night with your significant other since it falls during the week of Valentine’s Day?

Plus, we just added a class through Magnolia Café in Carlton: Coffee Creations, which will be held Feb. 10. Learn all about coffee and get a sneak peek at the life of a barista!

Watch for more information soon about an annual favorite: Container Garden classes, held at The Green House in Carlton!
