The author whose incendiary first book on the Trump administration prompted the president to rip him as “deranged” will release a sequel to the bestseller next month.
“Siege,” the follow-up to Michael Wolff’s “Fire and Fury,” follows the administration from its second year to the release of the Mueller report in April, and will focus on President Trump’s “volatile” and “erratic” behavior, according to publisher Henry Holt.
It will be released June 4, the publisher said on its website, first reported by Axios.
“Fire and Fury” — which tracked the Trump campaign and the president’s first year in office — drew controversy from Republicans and Democrats alike when it was published last year.
Trump called Wolff a “mentally deranged” person who “knowingly writes false information,” with the White House claiming the accounts were “fiction.”
And the president also accused one “Fire and Fury” source, former White House adviser Steve Bannon, of having “lost his mind” over quotes his former adviser gave Wolff regarding his son Donald Trump Jr.
Critics in the media, meanwhile, including Bloomberg View columnist Joe Nocera and journalist-turned-Obama auto czar Steven Rattner, called into question Wolff’s track record on getting the facts right.
Despite scrutiny over his past reporting, 150 sources spoke to Wolff for the newest installment, the publisher noted.
