George Lucas meets, tenderly cradles Baby Yoda for ‘Stars Wars’ fans

Baby Yoda, meet your father.

George Lucas, the original daddy to all things “Star Wars,” has met Baby Yoda, the adorable fan favorite from the Disney+ show “The Mandalorian.”

The series’ executive producer, Jon Favreau, tweeted a photo of the legendary pair on Thursday night, much to the delight of fans. The tweet has since racked up more than 513,000 likes as of this writing.

“The Maker and The Child,” responded Joonas Suotamo, who plays the Wookiee Chewbacca in the franchise.

“The Grandpalorian,” riffs another fan.

Another responded with a mini script where Lucas needs to be repeatedly told to return Baby Yoda so a scene can be shot with him. Instead, the writer imagines Lucas driving off into the sunset with the puppet.

The height of fame for the beloved child-version of the famous character appears to be far, far away. Baby Yoda trended higher than most 2020 Democratic hopefuls in November.

“The Mandalorian” was renewed for a second season by Disney+ last month.

The tiny and wise sensation has been a huge hit for the “Star Wars” franchise, especially in the toy department, where a black market for Baby Yoda plushies formed before official dolls became available. (And soon, Build-A-Bear versions will be available to make and purchase, too.)
