It's Final Four weekend, which means basketball will soon be out of the way and we can concentrate on spring football again (yay?).
With that in mind, let's talk about the really IMPORTANT Final Four, the one in football.
Who are your picks to be in the College Football Playoff this season? It's way early, but semi-educated speculation is kind of what we do around here.
Here's an early (non-binding) guess:
1. Alabama -- It would be foolhardy to pick against the Crimson Tide after four straight trips to the playoff (including two national championships). That said, the depth concerns on defense are real, particularly in the secondary. However, what might be the best offense in school history will carry the load.
2. Clemson -- Again, difficult to pick against the Tigers the way Dabo Swinney has things rolling. Clemson returns what could be an historically good defensive front. The biggest question mark is quarterback, where one of two young five-star recruits could unseat returning starter Kelly Bryant.
3. Penn State -- One team usually comes from "off the board" to make the playoff, and I think it will be the Nittany Lions this year. Yes, Saquon Barkley is gone, but James Franklin has made this program bigger than one player. Also, Ohio State, Michigan State, Iowa and Wisconsin all visit Happy Valley this year.
4. Oklahoma -- This is kind of a cop-out, since I don't believe in the Pac-12 and I had a hard time justifying taking a second team from the SEC, ACC or Big Ten. Baker Mayfield is a huge loss, but Texas A&M transfer Kyler Murray should fit in just fine and keep the Sooners "booming" in a weak Big 12.
Others considered: Ohio State, Georgia, Auburn, Miami, Wisconsin, Washington
