Borscht Belt comedian Norm Crosby died in Los Angeles Saturday at the age of 93.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the cause of death was heart failure.
The comedian, whose specialty was using words that sound correct but are wildly off base, started in the Boston comedy scene and the Borscht Belt circuit in the 1950s before gaining nationwide popularity in the 1960s. Crosby appeared on “The Tonight Show” more than 50 times and was a staple on several other late night talk shows, game shows, celebrity telethons and beer commercials.
He also had memorable stints on a number of sitcoms, including “The Love Boat,” “L.A. Law” and “The Larry Sanders Show,” and appeared in several Adam Sandler projects, including “Grownups 2” and “8 Crazy Nights.”
He is survived by his wife Joan, two sons and two grandchildren.
