Mitt Romney admits to secret ‘Pierre Delecto’ Twitter account

Sen. Mitt Romney has admitted to managing a secret Twitter account that he uses under the alias “Pierre Delecto” to lurk on political discussions and even defend himself.

The Utah Republican first referenced the secret Twitter on Sunday in a profile in The Atlantic, revealing few details other than that he followed some late-night comedians and journalists.

“I won’t give you the name of it,” Romney said, but “I’m following 668 people.”

But those breadcrumbs were enough for Slate’s Ashley Feinberg to ultimately find an account matching his description.

The profile — which joined under the handle @qaws9876 in July 2011 — has followed a number of Romney aides, relatives, journalists who have covered his campaigns, as well as a photographer who has taken snaps of the Romney brood.

When questioned about the account, the 2012 Republican presidential nominee fessed up.

“C’est moi,” Romney told The Atlantic shortly after Slate’s piece was published.

Romney has since made the account private, but among the profile’s tweets were comments defending the senator.

In one tweet, the account fires back at journalist Soledad O’Brien for accusing him of having an “utter lack of a moral compass.”

“Only Republican to hit Trump on Meuller [sic] report, only one to hit Trump on character time and again, so Soledad, you think he’s the one without a moral compass?” the tweet said, according to Slate.

The account also reportedly favorited tweets praising Romney, as well as one message from 2016 aimed at Hillary Clinton that says, “Hopefully Hillary will inspire a new generation of girls to marry ambitious perverts who will pay off their embarrassment with Senate seats.”
