CANNES — Sting took the stage for a surprise performance at a sprawling villa in the French Riviera to mark the end of Cannes Lions.

Attendees at the intimate event surrounded the floating pool stage from where the 67-year-old rocker belted out classic hits such as “Message in a Bottle,” “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic,” “Roxanne,” “Fields of Gold,” “Desert Rose” and “Every Breath You Take” for Live Nation and Citi’s hot ticket Thursday night soirée.

Prior to each song, Sting opened up about its inspiration and the history of The Police and joked that “Every Breath You Take” has taken on a “stalkery” message in recent years though noted many people still find it “romantic.”

“You can still get married to it,” Sting quipped.

Celebrities such as Sophia Bush, Connie Britton and Brittany Howard of The Alabama Shakes and hosts Live Nation’s Russell Wallach and Citi’s Jennifer Breithaupt turned up to support the British crooner and enjoy the sprawling estate Villa Alang Alang in the hills overlooking the Bay of Cannes while sipping and snacking on cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.
