Acclaimed Coronation Street and Emmerdale director Duncan Foster, who is known for working on some of the soaps’ most show stopping episodes, has revealed that tonight’s double edition featuring a killer showdown for Pat Phelan which could see a character die are the best that he has ever directed.

This is, of course, a massive reason to be excited given that Duncan has been at the helm of episodes including the Woolpack siege, the darkest point of Bethany’s abuse storyline, the Dales helicopter crash and the motorway pile up which saw James Barton die.

The ITV soaps always entrust their most dramatic and action packed episodes to Duncan and tonight’s look set to go down in history as soon as the darkest ever featured on the show as Phelan is forced to take drastic action with hostages Andy Carver and Vinny.

The storyline of Phelan have been bubbling along in a macabre fashion as he has held Andy hostage but tonight it all comes to a head in dramatic fashion – and everything changes for the crooked builder.

We are sworn to secrecy over what the outcome will be but one of the pinnacle points sees Phelan try to force Andy to shoot Vinny dead. Yikes!

Fans can tune in on Friday 27th October at 7;30pm and 8:30pm on ITV.
