Canton Woman Named Miss America 2020 First Runner-Up

CANTON, GA — A woman from Canton was recently crowned the first runner-up at the 2020 Miss America pageant.

Victoria Hill, 20, of Canton, was named the first runner-up in the competition, and earned a $25,000 scholarship on Dec. 19.

Her talent was classical vocal, which plays into her career ambition to become a professional opera singer.

Throughout the competition, Hill was named the overall talent winner for preliminary night one and was awarded a $2,000 scholarship. She also was named the on-stage question winner, and she will receive a $1,000 scholarship.

She lost to Miss Virginia, Camille Schrier, was crowned Miss America 2020.

This summer, Hill was named the 2019 Miss Georgia. Hill attends Reinhardt College and said her platform issue is "flip the script on foster care." Hill was named Miss Capital City for 2019.

“When you love and support children in foster care, you change their world, and that’s the most important thing,” Hill said in a pre-recorded video for the contest.

The Miss Georgia Scholarship Competition is part of the Miss America Organization, which is one of the nation's leading achievement programs for young women.

The Miss Georgia Scholarship Competition is a non-profit organization that awards scholarships to outstanding young women to help advance them academically and professionally. The young lady who is crowned Miss Georgia continues on to represent the state of Georgia at Miss America. Participants of the competition have gone on to achieve major success in diverse fields including medicine, law, business, broadcast journalism, theater, politics, literature and more.
