Former South Carolina quarterback Jake Bentley will play his final college season at Utah, he announced via Twitter on Monday.

Bentley, an Opelika High School graduate, announced plans to leave the Gamecocks last week. He is scheduled to graduate from South Carolina this month, meaning he will be eligible to play at Utah in 2020.

Bentley re-classified following his junior year at Opelika, and enrolled at South Carolina in January 2017. He earned the starting job midway through his true freshman season, and held it through 2018 and into 2019.

In the 2019 season-opener vs. North Carolina, Bentley suffered a season-ending foot injury. The Gamecocks installed true freshman Ryan Hilinski at quarterback from that point on, and finished the season at 4-8.

In 34 games with the Gamecocks, Bentley passed for 7,527 yards and 55 touchdowns. Those totals are fourth and third in school history, respectively.

Utah, which is 11-2 this season entering the Dec. 31 Alamo Bowl vs. Texas, has a senior quarterback in Tyler Huntley. The Utes lost to Oregon in the Pac-12 championship game, costing them a shot at the College Football Playoff.
