Crews douse car that caught fire near Shammy Shine (PHOTOS)

Firefighters doused a SUV Saturday morning that ignited near the Shammy Shine Car Wash in Greenwich Township.

Crews were called to West Road off Route 22 and Dumont Road at 9:43 a.m. A witness reported the vehicle was being driven by an adult male. There were no reported injuries.

Responding to the scene was the Greenwich Township Police Department, Stewartsville Volunteer Fire Co. and Greenwich Township Rescue Squad. It’s unclear what led the SUV to ignite; both Greenwich Township police and the Stewartsville Volunteer Fire Co. did not immediately return phone calls seeking information.

The Greenwich Township Police Department is handling the investigation.
