It started, as these things do, with a joke. BuzzFeed employee Jesse McLaren tweeted his attempt at recreating Ariana Grande's My Everything album cover, claiming that the pose was impossible to recreate.

What made him think about the singer's 2014 album, which featured hits like "Problem," "Break Free," and "Love Me Harder"? It doesn't matter, because naturally, Twitter users had questions about the pose itself.

Some asked if McLaren had really tried to recreate the pose:

But the real highlight of the thread has to be all the people who then attempted their own My Everything poses, and in some cases, outdoing McLaren's original:

Some Arianators pointed out that this was obviously not Photoshop, based on outtakes for the album cover shoot:

The debate got so heated (and got shared so much) that it all eventually reached Ari's eyes herself, to which she cryptically added, "next week on mythbusters":
