NYC Weather: Thunderstorms Expected 3 Days In A Row

Thunderstorms are coming to New York City this week, the National Weather Service said.

NEW YORK, NY — Thunderstorms are expected to drench New York City for three days in a row this week, the National Weather Service said.

Temperatures will remain the 80s during the day time, according to the weather service. By Thursday night, showers and thunderstorms are expected to stop and sunny skies will return Friday.

"The weather will turn a bit more unsettled today, with the chance of some showers or thunderstorms, especially later this afternoon," New York City's NWS branch said on Twitter.

Tuesday: 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 11 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 83. Light and variable wind becoming south 5 to 10 miles per hour in the afternoon.

Tuesday night: 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 11 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low about 73. South wind 7 to 10 mph.

Wednesday: Chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 12 p.m. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Partly sunny, with a high near 84. South wind 7 to 13 mph. 60 percent chance of precipitation. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Wednesday night: Showers likely then possibly a thunderstorm before midnight, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after midnight. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low about 73. South wind 6 to 9 mph. 60 percent chance of precipitation. New rainfall amounts between half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Thursday: 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 12 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 85. Southwest wind 6 to 9 mph.

Thursday night: Partly cloudy, with a low about 73.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 82.
