Strange things happen at the NFL's scouting combine and this year wasn't any different. Louisiana State running back Derrius Guice said he was asked if he likes men and whether his mother was a prostitute during an interview.

''It was pretty crazy. Some people are really trying to get in your head and test your reaction," Guice said Wednesday during an interview on the SiriusXM NFL show "Late Hits," according to USA Today.  "I go in one room, and a team will ask me do I like men, just to see my reaction. I go in another room, they'll try to bring up one of my family members or something and tell me, 'Hey, I heard your mom sells herself. How do you feel about that?' "

Guice did not say which teams asked him the questions. The NFL released a statement Thursday saying the questions were "completely inappropriate."

"A question such as that is completely inappropriate and wholly contrary to league workplace policies," the NFL said in the statement. "The NFL and its clubs are committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all employees in a manner that is consistent with our commitment to diversity and inclusion, state and federal laws and the CBA.

"The league annually reminds clubs of these workplace policies that prohibit personnel from seeking information concerning a player's sexual orientation."

NFL Players Association Executive Director DeMaurice Smith suggested the NFL ban teams that ask inappropriate questions from participating in future combines.

This isn't the first time a NFL team inquired about a college player's sexual orientation.

Atlanta Falcons defensive assistant Marquand Manuel apologized for asking cornerback Eli Apple about his sexual orientation two years ago. Falcons coach Dan Quinn apologized and the NFL described the question then as "disappointing and clearly inappropriate," and promised an investigation.

Then-Colorado tight end Nick Casa was asked if he liked girls during the 2013 combine. The league dubbed the topic impermissible and said that persons asking such questions would be subject to discipline.
