Fake bomb threat allegedly made by passenger on United plane to Newark, report says

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- A bomb threat allegedly made by a passenger aboard a United flight from Chicago to New Jersey prompted a police response when the plane landed at Newark International Airport, according to an NJ.com report.

“A female passenger on board the plane made a verbal bomb threat during the flight,” a TSA spokeswoman told reporters.

Police boarded United Flight 2329 at about 9:40 p.m. Saturday after it landed, and transported the passenger to a nearby hospital for evaluation. Authorities reportedly searched the plane and "found nothing dangerous on board.”

A sports reporter for the Daily News who was on board the flight posted on Twitter that passengers remained on the Boeing 737 for about 40 minutes during the incident.

“Don’t know why the protocol is to keep us on the plane if there’s a bomb," he tweeted.
