Chicken Recall 2019: Chef Boyardee Bowls Recalled For Undeclared Allergens

Conagra Brands (CAG) has recalled 2,871 pounds of chicken and rice products under the Chef Boyardee brand. The recalled product was mislabeled and may contain undeclared milk and wheat allergens.

According to the company, the microwavable bowls, labeled as Chef Boyardee rice with chicken & vegetables, may contain beef ravioli. The product was produced and packaged on Jan. 16, 2019 in 7.5-ounce canned microwavable bowls.

The product has a package code of 210090151050045L. Its best by date is July 8, 2020. It also has an establishment number of EST 794, which is listed on the bottom of the bowl. Labels of the recalled products can be viewed here.

Conagra shipped the recalled chicken and rice bowls to retail locations in Florida, Kentucky, and New York.

The company discovered the problem after receiving customer complaints that bowls of microwave beef ravioli were mislabeled as “chicken with rice & vegetables.” The company has not received any reports of adverse effects from the consumption of the product.

Consumers that have purchased the recalled chicken and rice bowls should not consume them. They should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

Shares of Conagra stock was down 0.76 percent as of 10:16 a.m. EST on Friday.
