Yamato halts all moving services after bill-padding scandal

Probe reveals intentional tampering in some cases

Moving services account for 3% of Yamato's sales, compared with parcel delivery's 80%.

TOKYO -- Yamato Holdings has decided to suspend its moving services altogether after a subsidiary was earlier found to have overcharged corporate clients.

The Tokyo-based company said Friday it will stop accepting new orders for corporate and individual clients alike. An independent committee that has been investigating the incident submitted its results to the transport ministry the same day.
