Dan + Shay & Justin Bieber’s ‘10,000 Hours’ Tops Four Country Charts at Same Time

Dan + Shay and Justin Bieber‘s “10,000 Hours” ascends 2-1 in its 16th week on Billboard‘s Country Airplay chart (dated Jan. 25), reigning with a 3% increase to 36.5 million audience impressions in the week ending Jan. 19, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.
Dan + Shay, the duo of Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney, adds its seventh Country Airplay No. 1, while pop superstar Bieber banks his first.
“Hours” was written by Dan + Shay, Bieber, Jason “Poo Bear” Boyd, Jessie Jo Dillon and Jordan Reynolds and produced by Smyers. (Dan + Shay are co-managed by Jason Owen and Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun.)

Dan + Shay first led Country Airplay with “Nothin’ Like You,” for a week in December 2015, followed by “From the Ground Up” (one, September 2016); “How Not To” (one, July 2017); “Tequila” (two weeks, July 2018); “Speechless” (four, December 2018-January 2019); and “All to Myself” (one, August 2019).
“Hours” marks the pair’s fourth consecutive No. 1. The act first charted on Country Airplay with debut single “19 You + Me,” which reached No. 11 in April 2014. As “Hours” leads Country Airplay, it tops the airplay-, streaming- and sales-based Hot Country Songs chart for a 15th week; Country Streaming Songs for a 10th frame, drawing 15.2 million U.S. streams in the week ending Jan. 16; and Country Digital Song Sales for a sixth week, with 9,000 downloads sold in the same span.
Thus, the track dominates all four of Billboard‘s country song charts at the same time.

The quadruple command is a first for a duo. Florida Georgia Line previously came closest to the feat among twosomes, having led all but Country Digital Song Sales with “Meant to Be” (with Bebe Rexha) on April 28, 2018, and “H.O.L.Y.” on Aug. 6, 2016; in both cases, the songs ranked at No. 2 on the sales survey while leading the other three tallies.
“Hours” is the sixth song to command all four song charts at the same time, following Luke Combs‘ “Beautiful Crazy” (for four weeks in 2019); Sam Hunt‘s “Body Like a Back Road” (three, 2017); Keith Urban‘s “Blue Ain’t Your Color” (one, 2017); Jason Aldean‘s “Burnin’ It Down” (two, 2014); and Luke Bryan‘s “Play It Again” (two, 2014).
Combs, meanwhile, is the only artist to lead those four charts simultaneously with one song while also ruling Top Country Albums; during the four-week domination of “Beautiful Crazy,” parent LP This One’s for You led the album survey for three frames. (For a week in 2017, Kane Brown paced all five charts, although thanks to two songs [“What Ifs,” featuring Lauren Alaina, and “Heaven”] and his self-titled LP.)
“Hours,” which has been promoted to country and pop radio, concurrently returns to its No. 5 high on the Adult Pop Songs airplay chart and becomes Dan + Shay’s second top 10 on Adult Contemporary (after “Speechless”) and first on Pop Songs, lifting 11-10 on each ranking.
Bieber is the latest pop act to crown Country Airplay, following, among others (also via collaborations), Rexha on “Meant to Be”; Backstreet Boys, who led for a week in July 2017 as featured on Florida Georgia Line’s “God, Your Mama, And Me”; and P!nk, who ruled for a week in November 2016 as featured on Kenny Chesney’s “Setting the World on Fire.”
Meanwhile, further flexing his versatility, as “10,000 Hours” hits No. 1 on Country Airplay, Bieber is the only artist to have topped these specific 10 Billboard radio airplay charts: Adult Contemporary, Adult Pop Songs, Country Airplay, Dance/Mix Show Airplay, Latin Airplay, Latin Pop Airplay, Latin Rhythm Airplay (the three Latin charts thanks to his featured turn on Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s 2017 smash “Despacito”), Pop Songs, the all-format Radio Songs survey and Rhythmic Songs.
