Massachusetts Education Commissioner Jeff Riley wants elementary school students to return full time in April.
Many students across the state are learning either completely from home or a combination of in school and at home due to the coronavirus pandemic. Massachusetts Education Commissioner Jeff Riley wants elementary school students back in school five days a week come April and all students back by the end of this school year, The Boston Globe reported on Tuesday.
Riley told members of the Massachusetts Board of Elementary and Secondary Education that he’ll ask for the authority to open classrooms across Massachusetts five days a week in April when the group meets next month, according to the Globe. Riley said he would get kids back in school by ending the temporary regulations that have allowed districts to run remote and hybrid models during the pandemic, but parents could still have their children learn remotely.
