Wild Turkey 'Stalking' Wisconsin Mail Carrier

Watch video as a wild turkey relentlessly pursues a mail truck in Waukesha. Mail carrier Jeff Byrne says it's been happening for months.

WAUKESHA COUNTY, WI — United States Postal Service mail carrier Jeff Byrne just wants to deliver his mail in the Tacoma Hills neighborhood in Waukesha.

It's a lot like many other suburban neighborhoods: The subdivision has curved streets and roadside mailboxes that are easy to reach from his truck.

There aren't any sidewalks to navigate, and the pedestrian traffic is light — except for one creature that cannot seem to get enough of his mail truck.

That's because, for months, Byrne has been followed by a wild turkey.

"He didn't pay me much attention at all in the first couple of months, but over the last month, he's acquainted himself quite well with the truck and has started to follow me," he said in an Associated Press report. "It's Thanksgiving. I can't say he's annoying. It's too close to his holiday."

When the mail truck comes to a stop, the turkey walks around the truck, tries to peer inside and ruffles his feathers from time to time.

That video can be seen below.

According to a WTMJ report, Byrne has a doomsday weapon at his disposal. As a last resort, Byrne has an air horn at his side that he can use to scare the turkey away. But patient as he has been, Byrne hasn't seen any need to use it — yet.
