Dakota Fusion women lose after furious rally

ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Dakota Fusion FC women's soccer team rallied from a 3-0 deficit, but were unable to finish the job, falling to Fire SC 98 4-3 in Women's Premier Soccer League action Sunday night.

The Fire got off to a hot start when Ashley St. Aubin scored in the 10th minute, followed by two more goals by Mackenzie Schoustra to give the Fire a 3-0 lead at the half.

The Fusion responded quickly when Anna Bondy scored her first of two goals on the night to get the Fusion on the board.

After tying the game, Cassie Giddings sealed the win for the Fire (1-3) when she scored with 13 minutes left to lift the Fire over the Fusion (1-5).

Fusion FC women will get a rematch when they host the Fire at 7 p.m. Friday, June 21 at Jim Gotta Stadium.
